— Professor Olufemi Adegbola Adegbesan, Chairman, UI Sports Academy
Professor Adegbesan explained that the establishment of the Sports Academy was aimed at creating an avenue through which young people could develop their sporting talents while also benefiting from the academic and institutional resources of the university. He noted that the university was particularly impressed by Olaosebikan’s commitment to youth development, which has significantly pushed the project toward its vision.
He further stated that individuals and organisations that supported such initiatives deserved recognition because of their role in strengthening opportunities for young Nigerians to develop their talents. The Renewed Hope Agenda places emphasis on initiating, supporting, and promoting activities, programmes and structures designed to further the growth of Nigeria in all aspects, especially in sports and youth development.
