The National President of the Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP NG), Comr. Akpovoke Otiti, and the National President of Defence Correspondents Association of Nigeria (DECAN), Comr. Odita Sunday, have pledged stronger collaboration among media practitioners to promote professional solidarity and advance online journalism in Nigeria.
The two media leaders made the commitment during a visit by Otiti to Odita at his office in Abuja over the weekend, where they discussed the need to strengthen relationships, encourage mutual support and explore opportunities for strategic partnerships within the media industry. The engagement highlighted the growing importance of cooperation among media organisations in navigating the evolving digital information landscape and creating opportunities for professional growth among online media practitioners.
Otiti, who is also the Editor and Publisher of AjaziralReport Newspaper and MD/CEO of Royal Palace lodge, Asaba, was warmly received by Odita, who is the Editor and Publisher of RazorNewspaper E-Copy, RazorNewsng.com, Razornewsonlineng.com and Silentheronewsng.com.

The visit provided an opportunity for both leaders to reaffirm their commitment to building bridges across media organisations and fostering a stronger network of professional relationships that would benefit practitioners and the wider media community. As part of the engagement, Otiti was presented with souvenirs and gift items in recognition of the cordial relationship between the two media leaders and their shared commitment to strengthening ties within the profession.
Odita, who is also associated with the leadership of DECAN and popularly described as the Great Lord Mayor of Journalism, hosted Otiti in an atmosphere of friendship and goodwill. Both leaders recognised the need for sustained engagement among media practitioners to promote unity, encourage the exchange of ideas and strengthen the capacity of media organisations to contribute meaningfully to national development.
They expressed optimism that stronger relationships between media leaders and their respective organisations would create opportunities for collaboration, improve professional engagement and support the continued development of online journalism in Nigeria. The meeting also underscored the value of interpersonal relationships in building trust, encouraging cooperation and advancing shared professional interests in an increasingly competitive media environment.
As digital platforms continue to reshape news production and dissemination, the leaders' engagement reinforced the importance of professional networks and institutional partnerships in supporting the growth of the new media sector. The visit ended on a note of goodwill, with both media leaders expressing confidence that continued engagement would strengthen their relationship and open new avenues for cooperation in advancing the interests of online media editors, publishers and other practitioners across the country.
