Leading African entrepreneurs and business executives gathered in the United Kingdom to share practical strategies for building sustainable enterprises and generational wealth. The conference focused on the importance of organizational structure and strategic partnerships in navigating global economic uncertainties.

Leading African entrepreneurs and business executives, including Chief (Dr.) Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, Ned Okonkwo and Grace Ofure, have shared strategies for building sustainable businesses and generational wealth at the 2026 Ahava Business Conference in the United Kingdom.
The conference, hosted by Barrister Ebele Iyiegbu, wife of Obi Cubana and Chairman of Cubana Group, was held on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The event saw entrepreneurs, investors and business leaders converging to discuss entrepreneurship, business sustainability, wealth creation and the challenges of building enterprises capable of surviving across generations.
Speaking on the vision behind the conference, Barr. Ebele Iyiegbu stated that the initiative was conceived to create a platform where aspiring and established entrepreneurs could gain practical knowledge, build meaningful relationships and access opportunities capable of helping their businesses prosper. She noted that the initiative was also driven by the need to encourage entrepreneurship, promote financial independence and inspire Africans, particularly those in the diaspora, to explore opportunities for enterprise development.
A major highlight of the conference was the Founders' Chat with Obi Cubana, who shared lessons from his entrepreneurial journey spanning hospitality, entertainment, real estate, beverages and manufacturing. Drawing from his experience of building the Cubana Group, Iyiegbu spoke on the importance of developing businesses around people, opportunities and sustainable value rather than pursuing expansion solely for the sake of growth.
He also examined the role of setbacks in business, noting that challenges could provide opportunities for entrepreneurs to reassess their strategies, reinvent their operations and identify new areas of growth. According to the Cubana Group Chairman, diversification should go beyond owning businesses in different sectors. He stressed the need to develop interconnected enterprises capable of reinforcing one another while creating employment and opening up additional economic opportunities.
The discussions further highlighted the importance of strong organizational structures, financial discipline, capable management teams and operational systems that allow businesses to function effectively without excessive dependence on their founders. Iyiegbu identified premature expansion, inadequate structures and over-reliance on founders as some of the key challenges that could undermine businesses during the scaling process.
Emerging entrepreneurs were urged to identify and develop their individual strengths rather than attempt to replicate the visible success of established business personalities. The speakers emphasized that enduring business success is often the result of years of learning, discipline, relationships, setbacks and continuous reinvention. This message formed a major part of the conference's broader conversation on sustainable wealth creation, where participants were reminded that access to capital alone is insufficient to guarantee long-term success.
The participation of Ned Okonkwo, Grace Ofure and other business leaders provided participants with opportunities to learn from diverse entrepreneurial experiences and perspectives on business growth. The conference examined the broader challenge of building competitive African enterprises capable of operating across international markets while strengthening business networks between entrepreneurs on the continent and in the diaspora.
Beyond individual financial accomplishments, the discussions placed emphasis on the need for entrepreneurs to create employment, empower others and establish institutions capable of generating opportunities beyond the lifetime of their founders. Barr. Ebele Iyiegbu expressed hope that the Ahava initiative would deepen conversations around enterprise development and foster a network of entrepreneurs committed to transforming ideas into profitable and sustainable businesses.
